Towards automatic vector mapping from multi-source geospatial data
Vector mapping is widely required by applications such as navigation, smart city and photovoltaic power station planning. Traditionally, vector maps have been manually drawn by mapping experts. Automating this process is a challenging task. We show some of our latest advances in automatic vector mapping technology for navigation map production and large-scale building mapping.
Lei Wang, Ph.D. is an researcher and expert in vector mapping from aerial and satellite images. He received his B.S. in 2009 and M.S. in 2012, both from Wuhan University, China. He received his Ph.D. degree in 2016 from University of Waterloo, and finished his post-doc with Steven Waslander in University of Toronto in 2017. He cofounded two start-ups from 2016 and 2021, one in satellite mapping with advanced AI mapping technology, and another in vision-guided random bin picking for industrial automation. He is currently an AI mapping expert in Huawei.
